# Add a personal contact

> Adds a personal contact to the authenticated user's Contacts page by email, with an optional name. The email is checked for its format and mail server first, and a user holds at most 5,000 contacts. Adding an email already in the user's contacts changes nothing, not even its name. If accessed using an OAuth access token, the `CONTACT_WRITE` scope is required.
