# Delete an Event

> Permanently removes an Event, its registrations and its occurrence booking. A published Event that still has confirmed guests must be cancelled first (which notifies them), and a published paid Event cannot be deleted because its payment records are retained. The authenticated user must be its owner, one of its hosts, or a member of the owning team; an external co-host gets 404. PBAC permission for team events: `calEvent.delete`. Learn more about API access control at https://cal.com/docs/api-reference/v2/access-control. If accessed using an OAuth access token, the `EVENT_WRITE` scope is required.
