Safety Pilot - Consultation

This meeting is to discuss the details for anyone who needs an appropriately rated pilot to accompany them when flying under simulated instrument conditions to ensure currency and proficiency.

Discovery Flight

WEIGHT RESTRICITON: You must weigh LESS THAN 200 lbs

Introduction to general aviation with straight tail Cessna 172.

Will consist of:

*You will sit in front seat with option to operate controls during flight
*Introductory flight with emphasis on plane mechanics, flight characteristics, and exploration of the aviation world/community.
*45 min - 1 hour of flight time locally

Instrument Proficiency Check

Mandatory evaluation for instrument-rated pilots who have not logged the required IFR approaches, holding patterns, and tracking tasks within the previous 6 calendar months.

No legally required minimum amount of time for this evaluation. Time needed is at the discretion of instructor.

Not a Pass/Fail: this is an assessment that will renew currency and ensure proficiency in IFR flight.

Includes:
* Oral Evaluation: Assesses your IFR pre-flight planning, weather interpretation, aircraft systems, and ATC procedures
* Flight Assessment with required tasks including: Holding patterns, precision and non precision approaches, intercepting and tracking courses, partial panel flying, unusual attitude.

Flight Review (Bi-Annual Review)

Mandatory evaluation required by the FAA every 24 calendar months.

The time will be spent with a MINIMUM of 1 hour for ground review and a MINIMUM 1 hour for flight review. We will decide if more time is needed during the review.

Not a Pass/Fail test: it is not a checkride, but rather a proficiency assessment and collaborative coaching session. Instructor will use discretion to determine if more time is needed.

*current and general operating and flight rules part 91
*Certain maneuvers and procedures at instructor's discretion
