Layoff debriefing
A layoff is a traumatic and often unexpected event in your life that can put an enormous amount of shock and stress on you and your family. The purpose of a layoff debriefing is to give you a safe space to talk about your recent experience; to help defuse any immediate sense of anger, fear, panic, or bewilderment; process all of the emotions and concerns that arise; and when you're ready, to gently guide you in thinking about the future.
All you have to do is show up and share your story. I have worked in tech for over 20 years and have personally been through 2 major layoffs. I've coached people through layoffs and other traumas in my capacity as an Engineering Manager and career coach.
Disclaimer: This is not psychological therapy as I am not a licensed therapist, but this may be useful as an addition to professional therapy services.
FAQ: Why are you charging a fee for this service? Like you, I'm a professional, and this is one of the ways I earn a living, by providing a service. I do all the prep and follow-up work by hand and never use any AI tools. You are getting my undivided attention. If you are not in a financial position to pay for coaching, please prioritize your immediate needs first. Consider career coaching an investment into your professional wellbeing. Coaches typically charge $220 to $550+ per hour for specialized coaching, so I believe my price is fair.
