Mark A Carlson

Professional landscape lighting designer; established in 1999 in Roseville, CA (now located in Orangevale, CA. I still operate and serve my licensed contracting busness called Avalon Lighting Design.

I am uniquely specialized in this art form and discipline, and have developed the new methodology of 'Affective' lighting design. This concept relates to the ability to affect one's mood through the use of 'good' lighting applications within outdoor garden spaces. I have developed an educational approach to teaching designers & installers how to provide these emotional experiences.

I am an educator, author, and visionary to help advance the next generation of lighting designers for the betterment of our profession, as well as that of human health.
