This course will train instructor candidates to teach basic-level HSI or American Red Cross First Aid CPR and AED courses. In order to participate in this course you must possess a current basic-level HSI or American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED (or higher level) certification or equivalent and be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the instructor course. Upon registration it is important that you review and follow the directions on the e-mail attachment sent with your registration confirmation. IN PERSON - 47 HOUR SECURITY FIREARMS TRAINING ($650)

This is the required Security Class to get your Armed Security Guard Liscence. You MUST have your Unarmed Guard Card and Pistol Permit to attend. You will be using your own Amunition and Your Own Duty Weapon.

Anyone attending must qualify with handguns that are 9mm, 40 cal. or 45 cal. Revolvers must be 38 caliber or higher. No 22, 32 or 380 calibers allowed. Three Magazines needed for autos, and 2 or 3 speed loaders needed for revolvers.

IN PERSON - NYS HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE ($75)

**The New York State Hunter Education course is a mandatory, and comprehensive training program required for first-time hunters to obtain a hunting license. Courses cover firearm/archery safety, wildlife identification, regulations, and ethics, available through in-person, instructor-led sessions.

Mandatory for first-time hunters. Students must be at least 11 years old.

Topics Covered: Firearm and crossbow safety, archery, hunter ethics, responsibility, hunting laws, wildlife identification, and conservation.

The 8-Hour Recertification Course is a mandatory annual requirement for armed security guards. It includes 3 hours covering New York State Penal Law Article 35, focusing on the use of force and deadly physical force, and 5 hours of instruction and range instruction and qualification. This course ensures that armed guards remain proficient in legal and practical aspects of their duties. You are responsible for bringing your duty weapon and own ammunition. IN PERSON- HR 218 FIREARMS ($75)

The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (HR 218 or LEOSA), enacted in 2004 (18 U.S.C. §§ 926B & 926C), allows qualified active and retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms across state lines, bypassing most local/state restrictions. It requires annual qualification for retirees and specific, unexpired, photographic identification. Key Requirements for HR 218 Qualification Active Officers: Must be authorized to carry a firearm, not under disciplinary action, and meet agency standards. ***THIS CLASS IS 2 DAYS LONG SATURDAY AND SUNDAY*** Starting September 1, 2022, NY State requires all residents applying for a Concealed Carry license to complete a 16+2 -hour training course under the new CCIA law (Concealed Carry Improvement Act). IN PERSON- NRA PISTOL PERMIT INSTRUCTOR CLASS ($600)

This is the course required to become a Pistol Permot Instructor. Thisis a Two day class. (Please note the date on the calendar is theFirst day of class and will follow by the following day after.

Candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through previous firearm training and/or previous shooting experience. Instructor candidates must be intimately familiar with each action type in the discipline for which they wish to be certified.

Candidates will be required to demonstrate solid and safe firearm handling skills required to be successful during an instructor training course by completing pre-course questionnaires and qualification exercises administered by the NRA Certified Training Counselor.

Candidates must satisfactorily complete an NRA Instructor Training Course in the discipline they wish to teach (e.g., NRA Basic Pistol Course), and receive the endorsement of the NRA Training Counselor conducting that training.

NRA Instructor courses are discipline specific. During the course candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures; basic public speaking skills; training methodology; use of a training team and training aids; organizing a course, building a budget; and finally preparing to teach. In addition, candidates will be provided the appropriate lesson plans and basic course student packets. Role-playing is a major part of an instructor course; therefore, the minimum class size should be at least four candidates, with 10-12 candidates being ideal. Candidates take turns working in teams, actually conducting portions of the course to other candidates who portray basic students.

Instructor training courses are conducted by NRA Training Counselors. Training Counselors are active and experienced instructors who have been certified by NRA to train experienced shooters to teach others to shoot. Training Counselors will evaluate candidates' performance based on their ability to handle the firearms with confidence, use of appropriate training aids, following the lesson plans and meeting all learning objectives, while utilizing the teaching philosophies expected of NRA Certified Instructors. Candidates can also expect to learn the NRA discipline specific instructional methods and evaluating and improving the performance of beginning shooters.
