Streamline your calendar experience: discover the 'Event Name in Calendar' Feature on Cal.com

When it comes to calendar scheduling, everyone has different priorities and needs. This is something that the team at Cal.com has kept in mind as the product develops and grows. We understand that the only time that one size fits all, especially when scheduling, is if that size is customizable. We offer a wide variety of customization options that have been tailored to meet different needs and levels of technical comfort. We have an open-source code base available for anyone who wants to create their own custom version of Cal.com.

However, we also have a hosted product with options for enterprise-level concierge service and plans for both individuals and small teams. One of the key things that makes our offerings different is that we understand that time management is a nuanced subject that isn't inherently simpler just because your organization is in startup mode. This is why we've ensured that our basic free plan includes everything an individual needs to reduce time-based inefficiencies. It helps create a calendar scheduling environment that is both accessible and stress-free.

Whenever the average user decides to customize their Cal.com account, the first place they go is often the app store. Our app store has tons of valuable and unique options for integrating third-party products and incorporating a few fun features we've built in-house. However, a whole world of customization is also available via your event-level settings. One of the most useful and overlooked options within that sphere is called "Event Name in Calendar".

How does this feature work?

"Event Name in Calendar" is exactly what it sounds like. It lets you customize how booked meetings appear in your personal digital calendar. However, one of the things that makes us unique is that it comes with multiple options for variables. The default setup for the way that events display in your calendar is comprised of the meeting name and the people with whom the meeting is occurring between. However, you can change that by using the available variables such as event type, title, organizer, scheduler, and location. These variables make it easy to customize the information that shows up in your connected calendars. This is especially useful if you create event types where the booker can select the location. Using these variables means you can easily tell where and when the meeting occurs when viewing your calendar without clicking any buttons to get additional event details. If you'd like to learn more about setting this up, check out the following section.

How to enable the feature:

  • Log in to your Cal.com account.

  • Select the event you'd like to edit or create a new one.

  • Select the Advanced tab on the event-level settings.

  • Next, scroll down to the Event Name and Calendar field and click the Edit button.

  • You can now edit how the event name displays by using any of the four available variables listed.

  • Once you've made your changes to the name, scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window and click Create.

  • Finally, click the Save button in the upper right-hand corner of your event settings page.

As you can see, customizing how events display in your calendar is easy and straightforward. It only takes a few minutes, and it's a great way to ensure that the scheduling product you use daily has been tailored to meet your work style and needs. This feature is just one of many options that Cal.com has built to allow our users to schedule how they need to based on their ever-evolving needs. Remember, even though Cal.com is a scheduling infrastructure product, the whole reason we do what we do is that we want to take the stress out of finding a time to meet so that people can spend more time communicating, brainstorming, and collaborating around the ideas, brands, products, and goals that inspire them. Happy scheduling!
