Get StartedTime is a resource that we have no choice but to spend. It slips through our fingers whether we want it to or not. However, we can always decide to make time-based choices that are smarter and more impactful. Doing this means that we get to see a meaningful return on our time-based investments, and more than that, we have more time available for the future. This mindset is one that's rooted in awareness and pragmatism. It's not about mourning lost time or regretting misspent time, rather it’s being committed to making the most of our time whenever possible.
Platforms like Cal.com help to make this goal a reality. Cal.com is a scheduling infrastructure solution that works for the little guy as well as the big guy. The product is packed with unique resources, tools, and features that help people take ownership of their time and make it work for them. One of the best things about Cal.com is its flexible nature. This means that the product is easy to customize and tailor around your workflow and needs.
If you've spent any time on the Cal.com website, you've probably noticed that there's frequent mention of the fact we’re open source. Many open-source products are only developer-friendly, but Cal.com is different. You see, Cal.com has made the choice to also be no-code friendly. This means that users have the ability to adjust the way Cal.com works for them as easily as turning a knob to tune a radio.
This is possible thanks to two unique features that the product has. The first feature is the fact that Cal.com is modular in nature. While you'll notice there are tons of settings available that can be applied to your custom booking event types, you don't have to use all of them. Instead, you can toggle settings on and off based on your needs. In addition to this, Cal.com also has an app store. This portal makes it easy for users to add the integrations they need based on the way they work.
One of the app store's more recent editions is called Matomo. If you haven't heard of Matomo, let me tell you a little bit about it. Matomo is a Google Analytics alternative that protects your data as well as your customers' privacy. Cal.com's app for Matomo is free to install and allows you to utilize their approach and infrastructure so that you can gather meaningful data from your bookings.
As a product, Matomo is trusted by over a million websites and is active in 190+ countries. Matomo is used by the European Commission, the United Nations, Ahrefs, and Amnesty International. This means that when you choose to use Matomo for your analytics needs, you'll be in excellent company.
Installing Matomo is easy. All you have to do is log into your Cal.com account. After that, select the "Apps" tab from the left-hand sidebar. Once there, you're going to select the "Analytics" category and scroll down until you find Matomo. From here, all you have to do is click on the "Install App" button. Once you've done this, you're ready to use Matomo.
One thing that you want to keep in mind is that with Cal.com, apps are active on a per event type basis not globally. This is great because it means that you can mix and match different solutions based on your needs. You can visit your event dashboard to easily select the booking type you want to use with Matomo or create a new one.
Let's take a moment to go over the next steps.
Select the event you want to edit
Click on the event level "Apps" tab, it’s right below the Recurring tab.
Scroll through the installed apps until you find Matomo.
Click the associated toggle to activate it, so that it's in the "on" position.
Next, you'll just have to add your Matomo URL. This is something that you can get from the Matomo platform itself.
After this just add your site ID.
Once this is done, simply scroll up to the top of the page and click the big old "Save" button located in the upper right-hand side of the screen.
Now that these steps have all been completed, you can use Matomo to generate meaningful data-based insights while also saving time.
If you're reading this and you haven't already signed up for a Cal.com account, then how about you take a moment to do so? After all, we're free for individuals.
