Moving to closed-source: the technical changes

We moved Cal.com's production codebase from a public repository to a private one. The public repository is now calcom/cal.diy, known as Cal.diy, the open-source, self-hostable, community-driven version of Cal.com.

Here's what changed.

Cal.com is going closed source. Here's why.

After five years as open source champions, Cal.com is going closed source. This wasn’t an easy decision, but in the age of AI-driven security threats, protecting customer data has to come first. Cal.diy will continue as an open option for hobbyists.

AI Is Finding Critical Vulnerabilities Faster Than Teams Can Fix Them

Security testing hasn’t kept pace with how software is built or how it’s attacked. While development cycles have accelerated and AI-powered attackers can probe systems continuously, most security practices still rely on periodic assessments and slow remediation. The result is a widening gap between when vulnerabilities are introduced and when they’re discovered or fixed. In our recent analysis of autonomous AI-driven pentests across production systems, that gap becomes impossible to ignore: modern applications aren’t just vulnerable, they’re continuously vulnerable.

Setmore Pricing 2026: Plans, Features, and What You Actually Get

Important Scheduling Software Features for Businesses

7 Important Scheduling Software Features for Businesses & Where To Find Them

At the crux of it, scheduling is what makes or breaks a system. Scheduling issues could lead to chaotic situations in businesses, hotels, hospitals, and restaurants, where:

  • Clients are left waiting

  • Receptionists have to face constant interruptions and make readjustments

  • Patients show up and have no idea when they’ll be seen

  • Tables get double-booked at restaurants

All of these situations are taxing on both ends of the dynamic, be it the receptionist at a hospital or the patients waiting to get a check-up. These circumstances are mainly caused by scheduling issues like double-bookings, missed shifts, and manual adjustments made after the damage is done.
